AGFACTS Newsbrief Summary - January 2011

·         New tractor sales for the 2010 calendar year were 5 155 units, 7.1% down on 2009.

·         Taken over the past five years, October continues to be the highest individual tractor sales month.

·         The 5-year moving average of annual tractor sales now stands at 5 765 units, marginally up on last year’s figure of 5 629 units.

·         The overall wheat crop is expected to be 1.571 million tons in the 2010 season; almost 20% less than in the previous season.

·         The current overall year-on-year (smoothed) decrease in prices is 4.3%.

·         Self-propelled combine harvester sales of 188 units in 2010 were 31.6% down on the previous year.
