AGFACTS Newsbrief Summary - January 2010

·         New tractor sales for the 2009 calendar year were 7 552 units, 26.5% down on 2008.

·         Taken over the past five years, October continues to be the highest individual tractor sales month.

·         The 5-year moving average of annual tractor sales now stands at 5 629 units, marginally up on last year’s figure of 5 551 units.

·         The overall wheat crop is expected to be 1.979 million tons in the 2009 season; 7.1 % less than in the previous season.

·         The current overall year-on-year (smoothed) decrease in prices is 0.9%.

·         Self-propelled combine harvester sales of 275 units in 2009 were 19.4% down on the previous year.
