AGFACTS Newsbrief Summary - July 2009

·         The overall trend in year-on-year price changes of agricultural machinery is downwards.   The current overall year-on-year price increase in nominal terms is 17.5% (smoothed).

·         The fifth production estimate for commercial maize for the 2008/2009 season is 11.603 million tons.   This is 8.6% less than in the 2007/2008 production season.

·       Year-to-date (6 months to June) tractor sales of 2 799 units are 21.4% down on last year.

·       Year-to-date (6 month) self-propelled combine harvester sales are 1.0% up on last year.
