AGFACTS Newsbrief Summary - October 2009

·         The AGFACTS Tractor Sales Index (smoothed) has been moving steadily downwards since December last year.   It now stands at 0.95.

·         The overall wheat crop is expected to be 2.011 million tons in the 2009 season, almost 6% down on last year.

·         Year-on-year price increases of all categories of agricultural machinery continue to move downwards.   The current overall year-on-year price increase (smoothed) is 12.1%.

·         Year-to-date tractor sales (excluding exports) to September 2009 amount to 4 219 units, 24.5% down on last year.

·         Year-to-date (9 month) self-propelled combine harvester sales (excluding exports) are 12.6% down on those of last year.
